Where Abuse Ends & Hope Begins
Safe Monroe (formerly Women's Resources of Monroe County) offers FREE and CONFIDENTIAL services for anyone who has been a victim, or family members of victims, of domestic and/or sexual abuse. Established in 1980 we have grown and expanded our services to meet the needs of victims and survivors in our area. Domestic and sexual abuse know no boundaries – women, men, children, teens, LGBTQ+, young and old; anyone can be a victim of abuse, therefore anyone can be eligible to receive services at Safe Monroe.
Our Mission:
To provide a safe and caring environment that encourages healing and empowerment for anyone whose life has been impacted by domestic and sexual abuse. We strive to engage our community through awareness, advocacy, and prevention.

Survivor Stories
Lidia came in with 2 children, no job or no form of income and did not drive. She was terrified to be away from her children and it created a tremendous amount of anxiety for her just thinking of it. She was on the verge of tears during many of her discussions with staff. She stayed in shelter for just over 2 months.
