This Pride Month, we are proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and compassionate space for all survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking.
Years ago, our organization made the meaningful decision to change our name from Women’s Resources of Monroe County to Safe Monroe. While our mission to support survivors has never changed, our name has. Why? Because healing, safety, and support should never be limited by gender identity, sexual orientation, background, or lived experience.
The name Safe Monroe reflects who we are today: a place where all people are welcome.
We recognize that LGBTQ+ individuals often face unique barriers when seeking help, including fear of discrimination, isolation, stigma, or not being believed. At Safe Monroe, we are committed to breaking down those barriers and ensuring every person who reaches out is met with dignity, respect, compassion, and support.
